Combating money laundering, corruption and terrorist financing
The Bank recognizes its obligation to cooperate with and support regulators and law enforcement agencies in their efforts to prevent, detect and control financial crime, and to comply with AML laws and regulation to close off the financial channels that money launderers and terrorist organizations use for illicit purposes. We have also worked to ensure that we have proper policies, processes and controls in place to deter money laundering and other financial crimes against the bank, our clients and stakeholders.
National authorities and supranational organisations (e.g. the United Nations and the European Union) impose restrictive measures against countries, organisations, groups, entities and individuals who infringe internationally accepted behaviours and norms, especially those who have been identified as being involved in weapons proliferation as:
- terrorists or supporters of terrorist organisations;
- violators of human rights; or
- being involved in bribery and corruption.
The Bank fully adheres to global sanctions requirements. As part of its compliance program, we have established standards by which we conduct economic sanctions screaning of both customer and transaction data to ensure that the Bank does not transact or facilitate prohibited business with, on behalf of, or for the benefit of individuals who are the target of Sanctions.
In accordance with the SECO directives of preventing the circumvention of international sanctions, the Bank in no case assists or supports its clients to avoid sanctions imposed by the US and/or EU.
